my name is cary. i'm a machine learning engineer, questioning whether I should keep chugging along in the tech industry.

i'm looking for a new job at the moment. most JDs I browse are for roles that would maintain the shitty parts of tech (extracting value from users to make daddy a buck) or actively pursue eliminating jobs (forward deployed engineers).

looking around, the only interesting/hopeful/exciting work I am seeing is on atproto. i've not contributed to open source before (company-owned data is where the value of ML truly lies, unfortunately). so, for now, i'll publish my errant thoughts into the firehouse and see what's going on over here.
